VFR400 big bang theory ?

Post by johnnie5 »

while driving around today go to thinking

VFR400 sounds nice and smooth
VFR800 has that nice deep throaty rumble

anyone thought about swapping the cams in 1 head 180 degrees , since bikes run a waste spark it should still run , but how would it perform ?

any performance difference? , sound different ?

I don't think it would work. Just don't see it being that easy..and what would you want to change anyways? The 400 or the 800?

for the 400

i can see now by the diagram how it fires so it wouldnt make a whole load of difference

by changing the cams instead of opposing cylinders firing they will fire 1 side and then the other , the question is would this change how the bike feels

The crankshafts are different in the the 180-180 firing versus the 90-270 firing.

The VFR800 is the same configuration as the NC24 with a 180 degree crank and even firing rather than the big bang style of the NC30 (OK so its not that big a bang).
