dynojet kits?
thinking of fitting a dynojet kit are they difficult to fit and set up? anyone got experience with these?

not just bumping this, but im keen to hear opinions too. i bought one recently off of ebay with a k&n filter for a bargain of £40 for both post inc but had second thoughts and sold the jet kit (kept filter) for the same query as above (that and a friend dieing put me off the idea of going faster).

it would depend on what the engine/exhaust system/breathing etc... would require would'nt it?
when you get it on a dyno, it may want different jets than what dynojet say you want with the stage 1 or 7 or whatever they do?
The adjustable needles may be usefull on a cbr? ,i would steer someone away from buying a kit for the zxr tho, im not sure with the cbr

I stuck one in my NC29 a while back, but that was because I fitted a race system and a K&N filter. I thought it was an absolute bollocks of a job, hated it from start to finish, but mainly thats down to me having hands like 2 left feet! In reality it's not hard at all fitting it, the only real problem I found was that you have to superglue a little brass ring in each carb which is fiddly. Once it was all back together it ran really lumpy and I had to spray carb cleaner in and blow through with an airline, also had to clean excess glue off the needles.....probably down to me being a tad heavy handed when applying it than anything else.
After that we did a dyno run and had to lift the needle one notch and now its running beautifully...really smooth curve, no real flat spots and fuelling right on the button all the way through the rev range.
The dynojet kit isnt going to transform your bike into a fire breathing monster....it's just going to give you a greater control over the fuelling, which in conjunction with a free flowing filter like the K&N may free up 1 or 2 horses. The difference will be the smoothness of the power delivery, hopefully eliminating any flat spots or peaky bits.

thanks for the advice i have fitted k+n filter and have scorpian can but the main reason is my bike is running rich to the point its fauling the plugs then wont start, so i thought if im gona mess with the carbs might aswell put a dynojet kit on

Contacting Graeme France would be a good start as to main jet recommendations if you don't wish to take it to a dyno, they're cheap (about a fiver each?) and simple to put in once you have the carbs off.
While you have the carbs off check everything over (pilot screws, float height, etc) and give them a good clean.
Edit: there's a pdf copy of the nc29 haynes manual on the net somewhere if you need a guide.

In retrospect I'm not sure I would fit another dynojet kit straight away....rather go with what stickshift said and try and sort it with different jets and a bit of fine tweaking first. In reality the only difference is you get a new set of needles with the DJ kit and am not 100% sure if thats worth the extra expense.
As it turned out I had to call Graeme anyhow after we'd ran the bike on the rolling road for fuelling advice....and as bloody usual 5 minutes later it was running as smooth as a babies backside. That man just knows too much.....it's witchcraft I tell you!!!!

Kind words - I guess that's a better discount on the NC29 race engine !
Re the NC29 dynojet kits - THESE ONLY work well on the early carbs with the 2 long and 2 short trumpets ... once the kit is fitted a full set of short trumpets further improves matters.
On the late b model 4 short trumpet carbs all you need is a jet change - as
Honda seem to have done the hard work for you - if you look at the slide springs / slide holes / main jet / needles - they are all different from the early carbs.
Only exception we have found is when fitting a ram air kit - the dynojet adjustable needles come in very handy on both sets of carbs.
Hope that makes sense.
