New NC30/35 Eccentric hubs - any interest...?

Post by RickOliver »

Just putting out a feeler here -

With so many NCs having trashed rear hub eccentrics due to owner brutality and laziness (why spend £20 on the right spanner when you can wreck a £300 hub with a screwdriver and a big hammer...) and OEM replacements now discontinued, I`m thinking it might be time to start producing new ones.

What I have in mind is a hub which is machined from an alloy billet rather than a casting like the original, might with luck and cunning design be a bit lighter and which will have a more robust adjusting system - I`m thinking probably a wider flange than the original castellated rim, with radial drillings round the edge and a custom peg spanner supplied to match.

This won`t be cheap, but if I could supply the above for the same price or a bit less than the OEM part (which was £310 from Honda when last available), would anyone be interested...?

Here`s the first prototype in the metal, fresh from the mill - we had to abandon the original idea for the adjusting ring due to lack of space behind the sprocket carrier so the final version has the same castellated profile as the original but the flange is twice as wide (6mm) which should give better grip and durability and will also work with the standard adjusting wrench.

I will post more pictures shortly of the finished item, anodised and with bearings/seals fitted...

...and here`s the progress so far - hub anodised, new bearings & circlips fitted but still awaiting the arrival of the seals which should have been delivered last week...

I'm liking the understated look of the silver anodizing, Looks better every time I see it, Rick.

Just a couple of seals away, so close.....phenomenal effort.
