Wanted valve shims...

Post by dobbslc »

As listed in the wanted \ for sale section, I need some valve shims for a 3tj
Sizes 162, 164, 166, 168, 170, 176 or the nearest to them.
Can anyone help?

Are you sure you need so many ???
Measure the clearances with the everything in place, then take all the shims out marking where they come from. Add the two numbers together and you get the overall distance then take the desired tolerance away and see if you can get them right by swapping them.

Alternatively ring up Fowlers and buy some they're cheap enough considering you don't do the tappets that often.

Yep all 16 of the clearances were tight, two of the inlet were less than 0.05mm! I,ve managed to get 8 to spec but the others are out. They have probably never been done before! "Fowl ups" want £55 plus and they only have some in stock.

I've tried Riders but they don't have the right sizes in stock.
Any other ideas?
