START BUTTON CAUSES REV COUNTER TO RISE TO 6THOU REVS..?
When i turn the ignition on and switch kill to run it clicks like normal (fuel pump priming) but when i press start it whirrs and rev counter needle rises to about 6 thousand revs but engine is not turning over,anyone ever heard of this problem...?
please help it's making me go insane...!

If it revs to 7 it means the CDI isnt responding properly. If it reads 3rpm more than it should ie. revs at 4 grand then it is the fuel pump.
Havent heard of the 6rpm reading.

Sounds to me like it could be a weak battery.
It may have enough juice to prime the fuel pump, but not enough to turn the engine over. That and rev counters can do some really wierd things with dodgy batteries!

check to see if the battery terminals are getting warm, if they are it could be that you dont have a good enough connection/furring up of the terminals, give em a clean up and tighten if that dont work it could be the battery is on the way out/flat as mentioned! had this on another bike once was cleaned started no problem!

Charging battery now....really hope this is the problem....otherwise it's bound to be exspensive.....

If it turns out the battery is duff (doesn't hold charge) then I get them from MDS

you can fit a ytx12bs battery in replace of the 9bs which will keep longer.....
