Im not going to ask why and i doubt your get any advice as im pretty sure no one has ever done it but a 30 wheel does go onto a 24 arm so id say its possible. Id say your need a 24 hub, offer it up and adapt it. Or......maybe the modified hubs rick o sells to fit a 750 wheel on the 30 will work as the 750 wheel has the same stud pattern as the 24 (i think)

Good luck

I was gonna ask why...lol......But thought better of it.......Because doesn't the 24 have a 130 rear tyre. That will handle very strange with a 120 front..........

I have an NC24 rear wheel and swing arm in the shed. Isn't the wheel 18"? [YES] Certainly no more than 4.5" wide, maybe less. Hubs are smaller, so won't interchange. NC30 wheels are cheap, so I don't see the point.

18x3.5" rear on the NC24.

There are people who have fit the VFR750 wheels onto the NC24 by machining the hub, this should still be documented on the website.

May I enquire as to why the intended change to a wheel designed for a 130/18 tyre, of which BIAS ply tyres are mostly the only choice, which will be quite terrible with a radial front.

No space invaders or mossad secrets, the reason is simple. The only way to pass the mot test here in italy on my nc30 swing armed nc35 forked vf400f without dismantling the entire rear and front ends is to fit nc24 rear and front wheels with rc36 front disks. The front tyre is the same, while at the back side the 110/90/18 fits (not the perfect fit though) the rear 3,5 inches nc24 rim. Minor works on spindle, and calipers and wheel spacers needed. So the hub is smaller on the nc24. Is there anyone who experinced what area of the hub need to be worked to do the job?

Oh... Italian bureaucracy.

I will see what I can do. I will dig out the parts and have a look.

Does this mean you have to use these parts day to day, or just for the MOT?

[EDIT: I see that NC24 front discs were 276 OD with 144 ID, which is the same as early RC24 (as well as all CBR600F through '94) discs, but not early RC36 discs, which were 296 x 144. So, it's not OEM size they're requiring, but OEM type?)

I've retrieved my NC24 wheel, hub, axle and cush drive from the shed, as well as some comparable NC35 parts...]

As Drunkn said above, the easiest way to do this would be with Rick Oliver's VFR750 wheel conversion. The NC24 rear wheel has the same offset as the VFR750 wheels, and the same bolt PCD, so it would very likely bolt right on and not disturb anything else like the brake disc/caliper. If you wanted, you could machine a kind of centre bushing to help locate the wheel, but Rick's kit doesn't use one so I'm sure it's not necessary.

The NC24 axle is approx. 48mm OD on the big bearing side, whereas the NC30 axle is approx. 50mm, as well as being longer and made for the NC24's cush drive, so it would be far from straightforward to fit the NC24 axle into the NC30 hub carrier. You cannot easily use the NC24 hub carrier, either, as the NC24 one has a smaller diameter.

I'm curious about the Italian rules and inspections, as my wife is Italian and has recently been threatening to move (us) there... 8-)

Yes that makes more sense now..

If you have the NC35 swinger and hub etc then the VFR750 rear wheel conversion for the NC35 should fit there...

rick O sells this kit i believe, its also documented quite well on the net.. probably on JZH's website i've seen it too..?

Ciao,
Don't do it, please don't move to italy, I don't joke, it's terrifying to live here. There's no more work in any area, economy is ultra depressed, there's no security, taxation is an absurdity. No rules respect. DON'T MOVE TO ITALY
