RVF Dash lights out

Post by jedidude04 »

Hey guys, i retuned and resynced my carbs today and went for a ride. During the ride i noticed my temp gauge, neutral light, oil pressure light, sidestand switch, horn and the brakelights not working. Before this they were working..

Ive gone back and check the grounds, fuses, recently replaced rectifier.

The bike starts up fine and runs great but i'm at wits end, i tried following the wiring diagram for the bike..my sidestand is currently broken but the connection seems fine..

My headlights and high beam work..

Cheers

Nope, i have had my indicators out for a little while due to being all led's and needing to add the diodes in..

Could it be something to do the indicators or the ignition box? I ziptied my ignition box but discovered it was hitting the subframe and rubbing off the black finish... or would the bike not even run if that were the case?

You need resistors not diodes for LED indicators or a change of turn signal relay type. Would be easier to help if I was able to see your bike. What about a run to the Blue Mountains.

Ok i charged my battery, battery sits at 12.8-12.9v with the ignition on. When its running its running 14 - 14.1v..

I cant pinpoint when the dash lights go out, they turned on when i charged the battery, they turn on after the bike sits for the night..but then the lights go out after 30 minutes of riding or just then they turned off just when i used the starter..

The lead for the earth on the front coil (the white plug) is kinda black on one side - burnt?
I checked the black plug for the front coils and the metal prongs inside are rusted - brown and blue..could this be it?

Cheers guys, going to get some butt crimps, new wire and insulated spade terminals. Also have a oem coil and leads coming in - looking forward to fitting it all and seeing if that was really the problem. If it's not, oh well i replaced an old and rusted coil..

Going to clean out the black rusted plug with a flat head screwdriver and some spray cleaner, maybe some dielectric grease and see how i go.

Well i found the problem guys - turns out that the fuse box itself has a short or something (the wires going into it). I knew something fishy was going on because everytime i put the tail fairing on the dash lights magically stopped working.

Anyone have any ideas on if i can get a new fuse box or rewire it?

Cheers
