NC30 electrical problems
I was hoping someone can help as recently the electrics have been going mad on my nc30.
What happens is as i am riding it, sometimes everything fails but the headlights and ignition (up to 5,000rpm), i thought it could be a earth but then i thought if it was then why was the headlights the only thing that worked, i mean if the headlights could work then why not the techo light?
i dont really know where to go from here. i have never had any problems with starting in the past 6 months so i doubt it is the battery and the only time the battery has died is when i left the ignition on (key can be removed while ignition is on). i really dont want to spend £100 on a battery and rectifier if i dont have to.
any help would be appreciated
steve

Re: NC30 electrical problems
When you are saying everything I am guessing all the lights, do your indicators, horn ect work?
The light switch has two sets of contacts, one for the headlights and one for all the other lights, sounds like the parking lights contact set in the light switch is dirty or faulty.
regards
jon

Re: NC30 electrical problems
Well i think so, i'll just make a list of everything
Techo (just reads zero)
techo backlight
thermostat (keeps going up)
neutral indicator
indicators
makes load and bad rubbling noise if pushed past 5,000rpm

Re: NC30 electrical problems
I have checked the earth and used a bit of wet and dry but it still continues.
I think it might have something to do with the ignition but if it was the ignition then wouldn't the headlights go out as well?

Re: NC30 electrical problems
does the bike actually cut out at any point?
i think if the ignition was the problem then all lights would go out as you say and the bike would cut out!!!!!
what earth you checking?there is a frame earth that is usually a common problem causing problems such as the temp gauge playing silly buggers..........

Re: NC30 electrical problems
I know this topic is quite old but since no one has yet to came up with the answer i thought i might share the cause of this prolonged problem.
One of the fuse sockets is very loose so the fuse kept poping in and out and that was why it was playing up. Only took about a month to figure out lol
