VFR400 CONROD BEARING CONFUSION PLEASE HELP
hi all, so i need to replace my conrod bearings, and as you know front and rear conrod bearings are different, i have noticed that they have been discontinued, but our friends at cmsnl have shown us that they have recently been superseded by another product, but as you can see in these pictures, the superseded part number is exactly the same between both front and rear bearings, this is for A, B and C are different numbers but they still share a number between the two, is there a reason? screw up? or do they have to oil holes so its able to be used on both front and rear?
please helppp!

Rick O should be able to help with this I believe but yes, conrod bearings are discontiniued but still available until stocks run out.
just checked my end and ML0-405 is the superceeded part-number, and there seems to be only a universal front/rear bearing now avaible in a/b/c (green brown yellow)

Yes, front and rear conrod bearings originally had different part numbers but are now both the same.
Stocks of all sizes of mains and big ends are getting very short now, if we can`t come up with a solution (with or without Mr Honda) the long term future of the NC is looking shaky...

This is very worrying, would a company be able to reproduce them if Honda won't?RickOliver wrote:Yes, front and rear conrod bearings originally had different part numbers but are now both the same.

That doesn't help my race bike, that is puffing smoke when I close the throttle.

grab a set while they are avaiable.vfrman wrote:That doesn't help my race bike, that is puffing smoke when I close the throttle.
if its puffing smoke though ida thuoght the rings are shot, which doesn't always mean main bearings have gone.

I'm betting on rings. I just don't want to tear it down and not have new shells...I mean, if I'm in the motor, might as well replace those, right?
