NSR magtek front wheel on NC30

Post by DAMO666 »

Bought an NSR250 magtek front wheel for my NC30 some time ago, just got round to fitting it with NC30 brake discs and the 6 fixing holes are plain 6mm - no thread? they are not stripped as they are still painted inside, is there some sort of adaptor required?

Nope. You have to use a long bolt and pass it through both rotors and the wheel hub.

NSR250 wheels are 3" wide, aren't they?

They have been stripped, happens to 20 year old mag wheels. As steve said long bolts are the way forward although i did look into having mine redone but it worked out more than i paid for the wheel.

Mine must have been drilled out then, because there was no evidence of threads in the holes...

There are 2 different mounting methods for different wheels. I think the long bolts were for the road wheels, the tapped holes for the race mags but I could be wrong

Possibly but that theory is a little backward IMO as discs on race bikes are expected to be changed more often than road bikes hence why the threads tapped into the soft mag eventually strip.

The Honda Parts Catalogues say for the MC18 only the SP versions got the through-bolts; the R versions got the M6x17 screws. MC21 and MC28 are similar: only the SP versions got the through-bolts.

Ive never seen a sp variant road based magtek but all the race ones ive seen had threads or the remains of the threads still showing.
