Price for a RVF400
Hi Guys, can anyone on here tell me what i should be asking for my RVF400RT
9000 KMS, VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT CONDITION . ALL THERE AS ORIGINAL. ONLY DAMAGE IS TO THE RIGHT SIDE FAIRINGS, MID PANEL BROKEN AND BIT MISSING, BOTTOM PANEL SCUFFED, BUT REPAIRABLE. NOSECONE CRACKED IN A FEW PLACES, NO SCREEN.
BIKE IS NOT DAMAGED AT ALL.
I have replaced all coolant, oils and filter, handlebar rubbers, gear lever, brake pads, and fluids.runs sweet.
it was registered as a CAT d, Didn`t know that when i bought it. obviously it was cosmetic only as the fairings show the results of the lowslide.
Thanks
Rab

Re: Price for a RVF400
As much as someone will pay.
What is the least you would let it go for?
I would have to say that calling it asvery good to excellent and then calling out damaged panels and that it is a CAT D too...
maybes £1500 at a push. I;d rather have a 30...

Re: Price for a RVF400
If you were to buy a new fairing for it (even a Chinese one) you'd get a lot more for it.
Pay £400 and you'll more than get that back
At the moment you are saying that condition is "excellent to good" - but if someone sees it beat up, they will think "rough to ragged".

Chinese panels only give you a usable bike that might fool some but don't add value have you costed up getting originals repaired/repainted then selling might be worth £3-£3500 to someone then based on mileage and mechanical condition history etc but as said above about £1500 if I was a prospective buyer as is .

Re: Price for a RVF400
3000 for cat d? id want an undamaged / non repaired clean original for less than that.
mileage doesnt really mean anythign on a grey import, these could have been changed even before it hit the UK, if not in the UK.
need to see the bike for signs of use.
pictures would help.
you can either do what most people do and stick it on ebay witha ridiculous price and leave it there until somebody takes it or if you want to sell it to a buyer in the know then best bet would be to start it aroudn 1650 open to offer.

3-3500 isnt the going price for a rvf, its the bandwagon price to all the born again bikers with lots of disposable cash. The trouble is the odd one buys one then everyone thinks they have gold dust in their garage

since its cheap as nothing to advertrise to a wide-audience on facebook / ebay etc people just stick up ridiculous prices and get a few suckers and everyone else follows suit.
not like back when you had to pay for a listing in the bargain pages or other classfieds and wanted the bike sold within a resonable time-frame.
you can pick up a low mileage clean rvf in Japan all day long for 2000., even with port to port shipping going to be less than 3500

Re: Price for a RVF400
I stand corrected gents thought the source of bikes from Japan had dried up or exchange rate and shipping costs taxes registration made it unviable these days live and learn.

Re: Price for a RVF400
For what it is worth - I paid £3500 for my RVF 18months ago. Ok - I'm not quite a born-again biker (having never stopped biking in the last 20+yrs!) - but I had enough cash lying around to consider buying a £20k Ducati - so the RVF was small change. (The money has now been wisely spent on beer, pizza and women :) )
But for that I got a 1 previous owner from new (registered new in this country in 1999), with very low mileage and completely mint condition (the owner had stored it on a plinth in his front room for the previous 2yrs), proper full service history (all the receipts for *everything* that had been bought for the bike - from tax disk holders to synthetic oil).
I'm sure though, that as I've put 30k Km on it since and it now has stone chips on the front (I **HATE** loose chippings!) and millions of flies welded into all the nooks and crannies on the front (despite my best efforts to keep her spotless) - it'd be worth *a lot* less than I paid for it.
So - for yours with the battered look I'd expecting far far less.
