SF Forks Questions

Do all Superfours have the same forks What size are they Does anyone have a top yoke that they could take dimensions off please

I believe that they're all the same, and they're 41mm in diameter (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!)

Annoyingly, the guy who bought my Version R just collected the spare forks this evening, so I can't measure anything for you...

Thanks, I had an new unidentified billet top yoke, thought it might be of an SF but it looks like that's not the case

Sorry to hijack, but CBR600s of the same year have very similar forks, does anyone know if they're a straight swap as SF forks are like hens teeth around these parts.

You need to look for the part number and start your search from there.
For example, my CB400 NC36 1998 has its own 41 mm diameter stancheons:
p/n 51410-MBE-003

The fork bottom part numbers are:
51420-MW3-E11 (R)
51520-MBE-003 (L)

Middle code MBE means: specially intruduced part number for this model.
If you search on the CMSNL website for the fork bush slider 51415-KCR-003 you can see it is used in a lot of other models such as the cb1, the cb600 range, the cb750 seven fifty, the CBF600 etc, all 41mm forks.
The next question is: are the forks equally spaced on all models? You need to measure the distances on the yoke that you have and compare with the one on the CB600.

There's some pitting, but not a huge amount. I've changed the seals three times between the two forks and ones's just gone again. It's really annoying. As far as I know, I'm doing it by the book, but it doesn't seem to be doing me any good.

Just investigating possibilities at the moment.

Have you changed the bushes yet? If they are overly worn, the seals will be wearing in a rocking as well as reciprocating motion, so will die quicker.

Also, the pitting won't help, if the rust spots aren't too bad, you can rub them down and fill with superglue, (believe it or not). Something else - the seal can get damaged when you slide it onto the fork, try placing it over some cling film first and lubricate it with some fork oil. Are you using good qualitty seals?

No idea of quality, but there's someone selling new Stantions on yahoo Japan for about £70:-

Used forks go for about £30 but obviously would cost more to post.

I have new oil seals, dust seals and fork tube bushes waiting for me to collect. Hopefully, I'll get both forks done today.
