Anyone know?
Hi all, I'm now making progress with my project nc23, and will be posting pics shortly. Just a quick question, I got a spare engine with the bike, so I've swapped the flywheels as the one on the bike is damaged. When i went to change them over i noticed that one is 110mm diameter, and the other is 120mm.
The larger one fits no problem. The engines appear to be identical, other than the fact that the spare one doesn't have an oil cooler.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Cheers, Matt

Re: Anyone know?
Hi there
Have you got the engine numbers from both engines as they can be identified from that, stick em up on here and we can ID them for you.

Re: Anyone know?
Stop - be very careful - you may be swapping between NC23 Aero and Tri Arm - quickest if you call so I can explain.

Re: Anyone know?
Okay cheers mate i'll give you a call tomorrow. For info the engine numbers are:
Engine in bike = NC23 E 1033097
Spare Engine = NC23 E 1015253
Is the Aero engine really that similar? The engine casings are even identical!
Cheers all,
Matt

Re: Anyone know?
can tell you now that those are two different engines! looking in the haynes manual the engine in the bike is a tri-arm engine and you're spare engine is from a nc23 aero!Matt wrote:Okay cheers mate i'll give you a call tomorrow. For info the engine numbers are:

the tri-arm engine no's are between NC23 E 1020001 to 1036510 for the rrj model and 1090001 to 1098123 for the rrk model!
looks like ure running an rrj engine.. now you can use parts from rrk engines but you cannot use parts from the earlier aero engines!!!
graeme might be along in the morning to explain in better detail

Re: Anyone know?
Okay thanks mate, bugger! Confirmed after speaking to Graeme this morning that the spare engine is an aero, although it was still useful for the engine casings. The flywheel of the aero is actually quite a bit heavier so will lead to problems with revs.
Am now considering running without a flywheel and charging system as most of its use will be on the track.
Thanks again for the responses, i'll get some pics up of the project so far over the weekend.
Chers,
Matt
