Where can I source NC30 Steering Stem adjustment nut

Post by lachyjnr »

Hi all,
I have become the proud owner of a box full of NC30!

I have a headstem but I do not have any of the steering stem adjuster/lock washer/lock nut/ top nut.

I haven't been able to find a source of them on the interwebs and here in Australia the Honda dealers are less than helpful as it is a grey import.

Can anyone advise where I can source them or alternatively if there are other Honda models that use the same part number?

Kind Regards,
Lachlan

Hi Lachlan,

I have ordered quite a lot of parts from http://www.cmsnl.com/

I done a quick check and that do have most of the bits for the steering stem...

Down side is there minimum postage charge to Australia is ridiculously expensive

Regards

Thanks CT,
the two available parts are the only two that I am able to get in Australia by ordering them as a part for a VTR1000SP2.

The rest appear to be discontinued so leaves me in a bit of a pickle :/

Cheers,

Hi CT,
I'm after Steering Stem adjuster nut (53221-MR8-003) apparently discontinued
and Steering Stem Flange nut (90305-MR8-000) the visible one on top of the top yoke, also appears to be discontinued

The postage from the UK from the sites I found push it up over $100 AUD and that's more than I can stomach for a locknut!!

I also need the below two but I can source them here as VTR1000sp2 parts
lock nut 90302-MR7-000
locking washer 90506-MR7-000

Cheers,
Lachy

Ah I see,

We I can give you a couple of alturntives on the Stem Flange Nut

1 - you could get a aftremarket one from th likes of Tyga Performance
http://tyga-performance.com/site/produc ... ts_id=1141

2 - I have one lying around that you can have if you want it, it has a bit of surface rust but the thread is good, side are flat and the points are okay (if you want pm me your details and i'll send it on Monday)

the rest you can get complete Yoke assy (upper and lower triple clamp stem and nut) delivered for about 60 pounds from ebay.co.uk which with the Australian dollar so low is about A$140

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Honda-VFR400 ... 565d2e376a

Let me know on the Stem Flange Nut

Regards

Hi CT,
Thanks for the info, I'll order a headsteam flange nut from Tyga and i'll source the two parts from Honda Australia that I can. That just leaves me with the adjuster nut and I can't believe that Honda would make an adjuster nut for the VFR400 that is a different size and thread pitch to every other one ever made so i'll take it for a tour around the local bike wreckers until I find one that will fit!

I already have a very nice complete headset for an NSR250 that I was assured would fit (it really really doesn't), totally my own fault for not doing my own research.

Thanks for all your help, much appreciated.

Cheers

the middle number or PCN tells you what part the bike was originally designed for.

MR8 means the part was designed for the NC30 specifically.

If it wasn't used on any newer bike then you might be out of luck and 2nd hand is your only option.

nothing in Japan?

It appears to be discontinued everywhere. Oddly the washer and lock nut are still available from Japan but but not the adjuster nut.
