plastic rubber guard thingy!!!!!

Post by wullvfr »

i believe that too be the technical name for it

the plastic guard that sits above the top radiator and ahead of the air filter housing with the rubber heat guard.......what is the actual purpose of this?is it a must?

i had a look on the parts fiche and it describes the rubber part as "rubber heat guard"so i presume it has something to do with heat.......but what about the plastic,is that to stop crud and crap flying up!!!!
does anyone not have this,or removed it for whatever reason?

on the diagram there appears to be no reference to the plastic part at all, just the rubber part and the various washers and a plug cone thing.......
the part no. for the rubber part is...19132-mr8-300
it refers to something else that appears to be too small to be the plastic part but is called the same as the above...rubber heat guard and the ref no. is.......19131-mr8-300,this may be the plastic part but looking at the diagram it does not look like it is referring to it at all.

i found out the hard way!!!!bike was running like a bag of shit on the way to the mot station and i knew what it was straight away,im guessing the the carbs are then receiving too much air causing it to run lean as hell.

its kinda broke so if you have one lying about give ma shout, dont rush bike is off the road for the rest of the winter.ran the bike last winter and it suffered badly.
