Hi,
I have a 1996 CB400 Project Big (FIIV)
When I got it, I noticed that as I ride, the fuel gauge moves. If i put it on side stand, the fuel gauge moves as well.
I've since replaced the clocks with a Digital one, and STILL the same problem.
Is this normal? Should I be looking to replace the fuel float mechanism?
How does the fuel float mechanism work anyway? Won't random swishing of fuel result in the float moving around a lot?
Thanks!

Re: Fuel Gauge -> Moves back and forth
How does your fuel floater look like? Mine sits in the tank and is connected via a metal wire to a sort of sliding electric switch which is bolted at the underside of the tank with a fat O-ring. This electric switch has a resistance of 5-10 Ohm when the tank is full, and 90-100 Ohm when the tank is empty. Your problem could be that this switch is not working so well and gives intermittent high resistance values even when the tank is full.
