Best way to source a RVF400 to import into Canada?

Post by Frioglobal »

Everyone,

I would have posted in the Wanted section, but being a new forum user, I would like to ask some advice on what makes the most sense to find a good example of RVF400 for the purpose of importing it into Canada.

What is the most sensible choice? The UK? Australia? Japan? Here in the wanted section?

Cheers,

Francesco

I would try to get one from Japan. I think there are a few websites for this, but I can't remember what they are. If you are lucky, you might find one in the USA, but it won't be cheap.

Are you talking here of sourcing a good RVF and then you importing it into Canada - or are you talking about the legalities and technicalities of importing one into Canada?

I imagine the former will come down to you finding someone that you trust on here (or elsewhere) and letting them select one for you and you paying for it.

The latter - you, being in Canada, are best placed to do that.

Actually, with regards the latter - I'd be interested. I have an RVF that I love - and my son has dual nationality (English / Canadian) - so he is my ticket out of here :) - would I be able to take my RVF with me to Canada?

I am interested only in the former, I believe already know everything there is to know about the latter.

The answer to your question is essentially the following:
a. your RVF is more than 15 years old from the original date of manufacturing: you can fairly easily bring it with you.
b. your RVF is less than 15 years old from the original date of manufacturing: no matter what you do, you cannot bring it with you.

As for sourcing one, which is my main interest, is there anyone on this site who procures these bikes on commission?

Hey Fransesco

I am currently living in Hokkaido and looking to purchase a VFR for myself. I also come across RVF's as well.
If you tell me exactly what you are looking for: mileage, year, model, condition, colours etc. I can send you info on bikes I come across. If you wanted someone to check a bike out we could possibly arrange something.

let me know.

I'm not sure of anyone on here that procures bikes. I can recommend a dealer though that specialises in grey import bikes and 2strokes - http://www.fastline.co.uk/ this is where I got my RVF from. They are a good bunch.

Read some quote before....oh it's this one:
