NC30 road tyres

A mechanic recommended BT090s today but are these right for road use? I need front and rear.

I swear by BT090's on my nc29, I've never had any issues on the road with them either pootling along or when I'm on a mission! I've actually just some fitted 2 weeks ago to replace the old ones that lasted nearly 2 years.

How many miles did you do on them?

Good question! I got around 6500ish miles out of them I think but can't be 100% sure as I added a speedo convertor midway through. Mileage will differ from rider to rider and road to road though, I'd be classed as a fast road rider (with a side of track day!) so it's pretty subjective. They are very good and very popular with 400 riders though. I only switched to a different tyre manufacturer once and came a cropper on them in the cold, will never use anything other than BT090's now!

I run a 092 on the rear and an 090 on front as I've found the 090 on the rear wears quite quickly and can square off if you do a lot of commuting/motorway riding

There's also a tyre sticky thread at the top of the page if you can be bothered to read through all 21 pages but like I said I would go with the 092 if you are mostly commuting and motorway riding and it's still good for the corners as well.

Agree with Keysie if the bulk of your miles are m/way and commuting, go for the 092's for longevity.

it used to be common to put a 90 on the front and a 92 on the back lasts longer.

there are probably some newer sports touring compounds about now.

i wouldnt recommend 090s for the road, they are a race track day tyre

There is a Dunlop gpr200 (maybe 300 now?) that is a dual compound sports tourer available in 18" rear...at least down here :-) it's just expensive. I went with cheap shinkos for commuting, but no good on the track.
