Oil leak
Hi everyone, been a while since I had any problems but noticed a slight oil leak, it doesn't seem bad though, oil isn't dripping off, just always seems to be damp with oil around this one bolt.
Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this problem will be appreciated.

Re: Oil leak
That cover has been welded,It's probable distorted.
If you fit a new gasket i would use a thin smear of instant gasket just in the area.

Why do you say it's been welded?

once you have had a few of these in bits you know what they look or should look like at least.

Re: Oil leak
Hmmm, I was always under the impression it was just the paint coming away that gave it that look (it is flaking in some places) I will definitely have a proper look at it tomorrow. Thanks for pointing it out.

Re: Oil leak
from this angle it looks full of weld and has been painted. if the bikes been dropped i guarantee it will be a leaky split case cover.
Once removed any damage should be obvious from the inside. its gotta come off anyway to replace the gasket so no loss. you can even do it in cheap skate mode, chuck the bike on its side to save dumping the oil.

Re: Oil leak
I see, definitely has been welded, there's about 6cm of weld on the underside of the case.
Yeah the previous owner dropped the bike, but it was mostly cosmetic damage.
Thanks for pointing it out.

Re: Oil leak
After a clean up I see the oil is actually leaking from the weld [emoji29]
