Post by Jamie Crooks »

Hi, Just new to the forum. Bought a tyga Spark fairing for my NC30 , put in new bulbs main beam and high beam work fine, but theres no low beam.

Do i need this for an MOT? if so can anyone offer some advice?

Hold on a second, you say "main" beam and "high" beam work ok but no low beam?

Sounds to me like you have two different ones there already, do you mean the parking light rather than low beam?

If you do then no you don't need a parking light if the headlights are always on.

Ok Guys, Thanks for the help so far, just to clear things up, when i put the light switch to the first stage there is no light ( as opposed to the original headlight setup ) then when i move the switch to the second stage the lights come on, then when i press the pass switch or high beam the light gets brighter.

i have reattached the original light setup which comes on when i put the switchgear to the first stage ( there is a small side light attachment ), but i guess i need to drill a hole into the tyga headlight and fix this in to conform to MOT regs?

The spark headlight works as you describe. Yours isn't faulty. (Unless mine is too...?)
There is no provision for sidelights (as far as I can see on mine)... :?
If you look where all your wiring ends up behind the headlight, you'll find that the bulbs do come on as previously.
But, they're not in view to the rest of the world.
So, either drill to accommodate, as you're suggesting, or pop the old headlights back on for MOT.
(I did the 2nd recently, as I was taking bike for service, and thus wanted to leave fairing at home anyway)
Hope that helps!

For anyone else with this problem in future - its an easy fix, take the existing side light from the original wiring loom, drill a whole to accomodate it into the rear of the new headlight below the main bulb ( nearside ), insert a suitable rubber grommet and insert the original fitting. Job Done.
