I've just fitted a set of NC24 clocks to my NC21, and it appears that the tacho is reading twice the engine speed it should be. Does this mean that the NC24 clocks count pulses half as frequently as an NC21??
Also, can anyone tell me if the clip-ons are meant to go above the top yoke or beneath it? Currently they're beneath it, and both master cylinders foul the clocks when going lock to lock.
Thanks!

Re: NC21 questions
why did you fit nc24 clocks?
the nc24 has a cable clutch hence no master cylinder for the clutch and a remote resevoir brake master cylinder unlike the nc21 mastercylinder which is integrated into the handlebars but i think your problem is that you have the clips in the wrong place.
they fit above

the tacho signal is fed from the igntiion box but the signal must be different between the nc21 and nc24, the ignition boxes are very diffferent between models. both engines fire exactly the same so i think youll need to use an nc21 tacho to get a proper reading.

Re: NC21 questions
I fitted NC24 clocks as I bought a job lot of bits off of mackthedaddy on here. Honestly I'm not too fussed about it reading wrong as long as it doesn't cause any damage when I go over the redline on the clocks!
I'm aware of the clutch difference but putting the clip-ons back on top should sort the problem out. They were fitted underneath when I got the bike, but it had no clocks/fairing so didn't cause a problem. I'll have to drop the forks about 25mm to get them on. Whoever built this bike before clearly wasn't interested in doing it well!!
I fitted NC24 clip-ons as the l/h one with the bike is bent. Shame that the NC24 has integrated bar-ends as I wanted to make some trick polished stainless ones...
Thanks for your help :)

Re: NC21 questions
Neo do you know the correct throttle cable routing? Currently they go around the headstock, underneath the fairing bracket, between the left fork and headstock, then through the gap between the frame and rad. The pull cable is super tight now the bars are higher. The adjustment isn't enough to free it up.

sounds like it was either crashed and rebuilt or an old track bike.spikenipple wrote:I fitted NC24 clocks as I bought a job lot of bits off of mackthedaddy on here. Honestly I'm not too fussed about it reading wrong as long as it doesn't cause any damage when I go over the redline on the clocks!

i wouldnt waste any money on polished stainless steel bar ends.
look into getting an 21 rev-counter or leave it disconnected, im not sure if it will cause any damage to the ecu but might break the rev-counter.
you might not have the correct cables, make sure they are stamped with the honda part numbers?
i cant remmeber off hand but youl have to trial and error it until you get them proper
