Sprockets

Post by xray53 »

Hi, has anyone had any experience with a 13 tooth front sprocket. Have a RVF track bike and have a 43t back sprocket on at the moment with a 14t F but still need to lower the gearing a bit. Not sure about the chain/swing arm clearance though if I had to fit a 13t on the front.
Thanks

Can u get a 13t front?
I have not seen one for sale (but I haven't looked hard)
You would probably be better going for a 45+ rear, this will also slightly shorten the wheelbase so mKe the bike turn faster, and I guess you are riding a twisty or short track needing to gear so high?
An NC is for life, not just for Christmas!

Yes, you can get 520/13t front sprockets - I keep them in stock.

Thanks guys, Here in SA it would probably be easier getting a 45 rear sprocket so will probably go that route. The 43 I'm using is from a Suzuki 750 I believe and fits okay. Holes are a little big, 10mm as apposed to 8mm but the centres are not a perfect match so the studs actually grip nicely in the lower section of the holes.
Rick, with regard to a 13t front sprocket, does this not cause the swing arm to lift the chain slightly?
Thanks for the prompt response.
Ray
