NC30 2nd to 3rd gear

Hi all,

I typically do clutch-less gear changes when giving my NC30 the beans a bit.

I seem to be having problems going from 2nd to 3rd gear at high revs, but not with gear changes in any other gears. Obviously I roll the throttle and push up the gear lever, but the gear lever just seems to go light and doesn't want to select third, until I try a few times to push the lever (and have engaged the clutch) and it then eventually seems to shift okay (by which point I've lost all acceleration momentum!)

I only noticed it the other day when racing a friend off a set of traffic lights for the first time and up until then I think its been fine, but its already started getting a bit frustrating, and I have concerns it may be gear selector fork wear or similar?

It doesn't seem to be suffering from any dropping out of gear at all...

Any help would be much appreciated- is it normal to have to use the clutch and I've suddenly started doing something different?!

I Never use the clutch on up shifts, make sure the dot on the end of the selector shaft lines up with the one on the arm that goes over the spline. and make sure your gear shifter is greased and nice motion.

Is it always third gear? Could be a problem with the shift pawl not coming back to position from the previous gear change. In which case there is a stiffer spring available I think.

I just had to split the cases to do my gear box as it was jumping out of gear. Thankfully you won't have to do that.

Thankfully I have solved it I think- I was being lazy and wasn't moving my foot back down after 1st- 2nd gear meaning the lever was never allowed to go back to its central position before 2nd-3rd gear.
