FZR 3TJ float height

Post by Drunkn Munky »

Is there any info out there on the correct float height measurement rather than using the method the manual suggests of measuring the fuel level? Well i think thats what the badly scanned manual is suggesting

Lots of people ask this - but the best way is still by the manual with the clear tube

Ok cheers, does this have to be done on the bike or can it be done on the bench? seems a bit hit a miss to me as your relying on getting the bike dead level and with 1mm of tolerance for the fuel level doesn't leave much room for error

Some do all this on the bench with the carbs at the approximate angle.(Kawasakiinit)

If you go by the service book; the mechanic would not be taking carbs off at a service.( He is only checking initially )
Put the bike on a paddock stand and put a block under the front wheel the same thickness as the rear is suspended has to be the most accurate way.

It mimics how the bike would be when ridden ( unless you are a stunter .)

As you have to remove them to adjust you could try a comparison .

Hi All,
I made a web page with a list of these Mikuni BDST nightmare fuel levels.
If anyone can contribute more it is appreciated.

Ok the REAL FUEL LEVEL is (drum roll) 4.5 to 6.5mm :o
I bought the genuine manual supplement.
See my web page http://www.litetek.co/Guide_Mikuni_BDST_Fuel_Level.html
That value is also very similar to the FZR600.
cheers

Look at my web page. It is above the middle line. Same as the FZR600, which is also shown there with a bunch of others.
