Quick Battery Question

Post by razor400 »

After looking on the web for a battery for a 90 NC30 project WTF I found a YTX7A-BS which I've ordered, today I pulled the old battery and its a YTX9A-BS, Anyone know if the 7 will fit or will I have to change it.
Cheers

The YTX7A-BS is the correct battery for an NC30, the YTX9A-BS is off a cbr600 and gives larger capacity but just fits.

Hi there,

The 7 is standard, the 9 is an option. The 7 has a capacity of 6Ah, while the 9 has a capacity of 8Ah. In reality, either is perfectly good capacity-wise. The 9 is slightly taller than the 7 but the footprint is the same.

Thanks.

The smaller the number the smaller battery (e.g. as above 7 vs 9).

Most 2-strokes use a size 4. None of the smaller batteries have the terminals around the correct way for nc's, you'll probably need lengthen the +ve and -ve wires.

Check http://www.tayna.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, theres a wizard for putting in dimensions, if you do that it'll tell you all the batteries they sell that are the same size :)

They do some dinky AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries, but the prices can be scary of some of the more fancy batteries.

It depends how much faith you have in your electrical system. If it's all A1 (good reg/rec, stator, etc) then you could get away with a very small battery (rgv250 or similar).

If you have any doubt, stick with a std size. It sucks to miss out on track time because of a dodgy charging system.
