Are these caliper pistons still usable?

Post by JamieDemos »

Hi all, okay so I was changing my rear pads today and my caliper pistons seem to be in bad condition, and in this state wont go back in the cylinder beyond the corroded section (naturally). So is there anyway to get these pistons in usable condition again (soaking in something to get the corrosion off maybe?)
Thanks Image

No doubt someone will say they can rescued but those apart from being rusty have been chewed by a pit bull new ones probably best bet.

+2 their scrap pal, just remember you cannot skimp on any brake parts, they're the most important part of the bike!

They are absolutely fucked.

I pulled mine out and they weren't 10% as bad as that but I still replaced them! It's your brakes man, you don't want to be overrunning a bend at 100mph and regretting not coughing up a few notes for new parts!
A roaring V4 is the summer soundtrack.

And if the pistons are that bad you'll need new seals and a very good clean up too!
Have you checked the front ones?...........
