RVF Jetting For Twinstack

Post by Micro Monkey »

Am fitting a mercury twinstack full system to the rvf and just wanted to know a basic setup jetting wise. Only mods are pipercross filter and hrc cdi. Carbs are standard.

each bike varies to the other so what works for you doesn't work for someone else but a mate has a stack on his rvf and it's got 115's all round and no shims under the needles,RO HRC carb springs and thats all i can think of...

RVF uses clips on the needles, I would leave the needles where they are for now and start with the main jets. 115 all round sounds like a good place to start, but the modded filter may complicate things.

I have the pipercross foam ready for fitting but the filter is currently standard and will leave it that way if it makes that much difference. Should i also order a set of 112's as well.

There are no grooves and "C" Clips on the RVF. The needles are set with Shims same as NC30.
Unless you have a set of HRC needles in there or some other brand.

My RVF (fitted to a VFR) carbs work on shims too. I guess you have struck lucky with some adjustable needles, result.

With regards to jetting options, as stated above, I have RVF carbs on my VFR and a twin-stack, if I remember correctly I have fitted 112's all round. That is for a 1/2 stack systam on standard headers and rear maifold, I guess I'll be changing the jetting once my new system arrives from Japan.
