What chain and sprockets are you running?
Searched through tons of threads, they're full of people recommending 15/40, 15/42 and some even 14/42 etc.
I'm going to be using mine for weekend hooning and maybe a cheeky track day or two. It'll also be used on sunny Fridays to commute to work (40 miles of motorway one way), reckon I'd be best on 15/40 and maybe 15/42? Tempted to stick with the original to keep the speedo as accurate as it can be.
Now, what brands do people go for and where from? I hear Renthal chains being thrown around quite a lot, and what's 520, DID etc? Any help appreciated, never bought C+S before.
Bike has no MOT, so next weekend (not this one) would like to replacing C+S, replace suspension dogbone (worn bushings), sort electrical gremlins and get her MOT'd.

Cant speak for the nc30, but on my 35 i think the +2 rear is the best mod done so far :) Much pokier and it doesn't sit in the 6000rpm flat spot at 100kmh on the highway.
AFAM sprockets are nice and fairly cheap :) I like the EK chains myself, the screw on masterlink is pretty handy too if you don't have the proper chain tool :) Not sure any are "bad" Have used most brands and not had a problem, even the DID and regina ones that many on other forums seem to not rate at all have been fine for me

I use Renthal sprockets and DID chains. On one occasion by local shop suggested they fit a Tsubaki chain. After barely 100 miles it had tight spots all over the place. It went in the skip and was replaced with the usual spec DID one. The Tsubaki supplier blamed dodgy sprockets, but the DID chain did about 20000kms on them.... lol

Re: What chain and sprockets are you running?
Any more comments about this? Are people running stock 15 / 40 sprockets?
In city traffic the gearing is way too high. I'm looking at 15 / 42, but maybe even 14 / 42 if people are using that.

14/41 works for me, great acceleration, easy round town and (on a private road, according to the speedo) max's out approx 125/130

I have stock size, 15-40 Kitako aluminium sprockets on mine, much lighter.Ozzibiker wrote:Any more comments about this? Are people running stock 15 / 40 sprockets?

However, the NC30 has a super tall first gear as its designed to be a mini-race bike, so no matter what you do with the sprockets it will never really be as comfy around the town as most bikes.
One of the reasons I dont use it so much anymore is its just not great for riding around busy towns (but it isnt supposed to be) so I tend to use my scooters much more.
