cbr600rr caliper upgrade

Post by phicise »

Hi

Just wondering which master cylinder to go with calipers off a cbr600rr 03-04 model for my nc35.

I am upgrading now as am having alot of problems with the front brakes locking up. I have already changed caliper seals and master cylinder seals and using braided lines now but they still latch on after some riding which is quite scary. Brake lever wont release till maybe 15 minutes later. Any thoughts?

anyway,

Must i stay with the master cylinder off the same bike? or can i go with one off a newer model??

thanks

have you got some aftermarket levers..cheap chinese ones ,aybe...

They need a touch of the dremel/file as they are not quite right. Fit some proper levers

Yup, what Mark said ^

If the lever is putting slight pressure on the master cylinder when in it's out (resting) position then it can lead to boiling brake fluid and high pressure in the system. This has happened to quite a few people that are using non-standard brake levers.

There's no way I'd be riding it until it's fixed!

ive got stock levers though. What if the bike has had a fall before, do you guys think this may be causing the lever to always push down on the master cylinder?

il take it off anyway and give it a shave. see how it goes. thanks

Is it a genuine Honda lever though? Where are you mate, might have a spare genuine one knocking about I can send out.

just another question, i currently have HEL braided lines for my stock callipers and stock MC. When upgrading to CBR600RR callipers 03/04 , do i also need to change these brake lines and Banjo bolts as well ? or will my current lines and banjo bolts fit?

the lines won't fit - they have the wrong angle on the ends. Pain in the arse, but the brakes, once setup, are awesome.
