Triarm issue

Hi guys,

My triarm the other day redlined at normal speed in 6th. I mean 65 mph. I turned and headed home straight away. Thankfully only 2 mile from home. Anyway at the lights it idled fine ,didnt misbehave but coming into estate it sounded rough. Lacked power like as if bogging down.

Fuel is fresh, 2k since serviced and balanced. Removed tank to check for split carb rubbers. Ok Not a slipping clutch as surely the bollox would rev out of the bike if so when redlining. Bike sounded normal during redlining.

Anything else to check before i drop it to mechanic?

So when u say redlining in 6th but only doing 65, u mean it was acually reving like 15000 rpm. If so it was your clutch. If I have misunderstood then the clock is faulty and prob a bad earth or something.

Yeah redlined but only doing 65mph. When taking off from lights it shot straight to 7000rpm and then needle traveled as normal up the revs in each gear. But engine sounded normal as in no over revving that i was expecting in conjunction with the rev counter. Cheers

The rev counter is electronic. One amusing aspect of a reg/rec failing in the "overcharge" mode is that is causes the instruments to go crazy. You might want to check your charging voltage (@ 3,000 rpm, after the engine have been thoroughly warmed-up), to make sure it is not over 15v.
