David Silvers and parts help

Post by lukemillar »

Are they still going? I try and load the site but get zip :( Please tell me it ain't so

Also, Can anyone help me with some part numbers? The only parts fiche I have looks like a scan of a fax of a scan! I am basically after the circlip that sits above the oil seal on K model NC30 forks and the washer that sits between the spring and spacer.

Thanks
Luke

Luke, I was using the DSS site just this morning and it all was good, looks like it could be down for maintenance at the moment while the northerners are sleeping.

The washer is the same part for early and late model forks: 51403-KF0-003

I can't see the part number clearly enough here at work either, but if it's the same as used on the late forks you could try here and compare with the diagram you have: http://www.cmsnl.com/vfr400r3-1990-aust ... 1403KF0003

Circlip P/N 51447-KA4-711. Have you tried your Honda dealer. MR8 parts are NC30 only numbers, KF0 and KA4 could be Honda common parts and therefore available locally.

Cheers - already got it. I need to order a few more bits anyway, so I'm just lumping these parts in

MR8 doesn't mean NC30 only, the middle is what Honda call the PCN or product code number.

MR8 means that the part was originally developed / designed for the NC30, but since then it might be used on subsequent bikes, hence some of the NC30 parts being MR7 (RC30) in origin as they were RC30 parts but used on the NC30, and many other parts being ML0 (NC21) in original.

That being said MR8 parts are more likely to be only used on NC30 / NC35.

Part numbers with the PCN of KF0 originally came from the XLX250R (XLX 250) and part numbers with the PCN of KA4 came from CR250RB-F .

You often see KV3 parts too, which were NSR250 in origin.

Many things like footpegs / brake pads and calipers etc were using on many models, not sure what NC30 stuff was used on later models, perhaps some engine components, fork bits etc.. but anything style wise, like panels etc will most likely not be used on anything other than the original PCN bike.

Sounds about right... ;)

In markets like Oz and the USA, which never had an officially imported NC30, very few MR8 parts are available from Honda dealers, as it seems that not a lot of those parts were ever used on later officially imported bikes. Those of us living in the UK are much luckier in that regard.

FYI, the full list of PCNs is here: http://vsource.org/VFR-RVF_files/BHondaPCNs.htm. With my broke leg, I've recently had the time to update it... :|
