Main fuse blowing - red/white wire from magnetic starter

Post by Bodhi »

Hey everyone. So my Super4 wouldn't turn on this morning and it appears to be that there's a short from the red/white wire that's going out of the magnetic starter. So does anyone know where this wire goes to or what it might be? Don't want to send it to a bike shop to spend loads on them having to investigate it if it's something simple I could do. Just need to work out where that wire goes so I can investigate it. It blows the fuse even when the ignition is off, so has to be connected to something that is permanently live.

Any help or advice or a wiring diagram would be greatly appreciated

Ok, so having taken a look at the wiring diagram in the CBR400 Haynes Manual it looks like the Red/White wire running from the starter relay goes directly to the Reg/Rec. So if the wire was shorting out there could that be the issue? I had noticed recently some oxidisation around the wires going into the Reg/Rec connection block. It had been rewired by the Bike place I left it to a few years ago when I had battery issues rooted in the Reg/Rec being knackered and they weren't able to disconnect it and had to cut it and rewire it.

Replaced the Reg/Rec and connector block and everything seems to be working fine now.
