Bike hesitant on throttle
My vfr400 nc24 is very hesitant on the throttle and occasionally stalls as soon as the throttle is touched. Carbs have been throughly cleaned, mixture settings set as per factory settings and carbs have been balanced using 1mm drill bit method. Anybody any ideas ........

Rebalance using a set of gauges and try turning in your pilot screws a bit.

Carbs have been apart, I put new float bowl seals in and ensured jets were correct sizes front and rear.

Don't know much about the NC24 but assume they ahve same carbs as the NC30.
Are you aware of Cammo's carb guide on here? I found it very useful & it fixed my idling problems & mega flat spot. Its in the document library & in this thread

What did you set the pilot screw settings to?
Did you remove & check the pilot jets and the if emulsion tubes underneath the main jets are ok & in the correct places?

Emulsion tubes were checked and mixture settings set to 2 as per manual. Bike does have aftermarket larger diameter end can so wonder if that is causing my issues .....

Haven't had a chance to work on bike this week, will get carbs off tomorrow to double check all is well and report back.... (Fingers crossed)

Right update (no further forward
) took carbs off bike checked all pilot and main jets, running 115 main jets front and rear and 35 pilot jets all round. 4 emulsion tube holes in front carbs, 5 in rears as it should be. All circuits blown through with compressed air and reassembled. I adjusted the mixture settings to 2.5 turns out. Carbs went back on bike and now it refuses to even fire up. Any ideas anyone ? fed up with taking carbs apart it reels like they have been on and off more times than a bloody lightbulb !
Any guidance gratefully received.

The carb float bowls need to fill with fuel before any can get to the engine, and because the vacuum-operated fuel tap is opened only when the engine is turning over, it can take some time to fill the carbs.
I fill the carbs with fuel before putting them back on these days (syringe or two of fuel down the carb fuel inlet pipe), it gives the battery and starter motor an easier time, and will fire straight up.
