NC30 In-Line Fuel Filter

Hey All,

Got a slightly rusty tank I am going to need to use for my racebike. The rust isnt flaking or anything nasty but it is there. Now the plan is to put some nuts on some fishing line and shake it like a maraka for an hour, flush it out with some old fuel and then install an inline fuel filter.

Has anyone used an inline filter on their NC before and are there any recommendations on what one to use?

Im aware of the one on the pre fuel tap end of things but I dont want any crap making it into the carbs at all :)

Don't do it. The gravity fed fuel supply isn't always strong enough to get through a filter element, peeps that have fitted them usually run into problems.

As well as the filter in the fuel tank there are individual gauze filters inside each of the 4 carbs.

Have you considered sealing the tank after getting most of the rust out? Some of the sealing products are said to have good results.

Hi, dont use a paper filter like for cars, i've never got one to work right like cammo says, you can get proper bike inline filters that have a fine plastic gauze, there ok but sometimes dont filter the very fine dust out.
I've used the sealing tank resins a few times with very good results, never had a problem with it afterwards, just makes the petrol run red for a while afterwards. Its all in the prep of the tank tho, needs to be totally degreased first, then dried very well.

I had one a while back, used a diesel pressure washer at work, got soaked but was just like shot blasting it, let it dry then gave it a good swill with petrol.
