NC30 runs for a few seconds and then dies

All,

I recently decided to take the carbs off my NC30 and clean and service them. I have now refitted them and am having problems getting the bike to run for more than 8-10 seconds with out cutting out. I assume it must be fuel starvation as it does briefly run, and the fuel hose definitely isn't kinked or blocked, so my thoughts are;

Does the fuel system require bleeding, and if so how?
I have already run the battery flat once trying to start it, is this normal?
What does the vacum hose do? Will sucking on this assist?
I drained the fuel tank prior to refitting it, could this be causing the problem?

Could it be something else?

Yes and checked it isn't kinked or damaged... What exactly does it do? IS this likely to be the cause of my problems?

Which spigot is it on?

I'll bet that hunter has it right

you have 3 jobbies - large one for fuel, 2 small ones.

you put the vacuum on the outside one...not the middle one that points down

When I bought my NC30 track bike it had been stood for a while and would only run for a small amount of time before cutting out. The vacuum pipe was on the bottom of the tap not the right hand one, so basically the vacuum was sucking the diagram shut instead of open. Worth checking to be 100% sure.

The vacum hose is definitley on the correct spigot...

Would it still run though if it were flooded? I will take a look at the spark plugs anyway...
