Afternoon to all ;)

Refitting my NC30 wing arm after a clean etc. Never done this before so stumbling around lol.
Question to all - when i fit the swingarm bolt with pivot adjuster slotted on,and then tighten it to the required torque (15nm) the swing arm goes from running free to being slightly tigh ?? ie it will sit at what ever angle you move it too. If i back it off to say 5nm it frees up again. Nut not fitted on the other side ??? Not a mechanic but would have thought the swingarm should remain free at all times ??? . Also dont have that special tool to torque up the swingarm lock nut :( only have one of those castle sockets from fleabay. Can it be tighened another way or am i screwed !!!!

All advice and wise knowledge received greatly

Cheers chaps :peace:

Is it all greased up? Re greasing spigot bearings and everything after cleaning?
As for the Honda tool I don't have one either but found another way, the socket won't work as you need to counter hold with an Allen key, which will be covered by socket, catch 22, I made a tool using a t-joint I got from work, usually for pneumatic systems, I wacked it on the miller and cut the 'castle shape' on one end, put a pipe as a handle on the side allowing an Allen key to pass through it, if you don't understand (I'm not good at explaining) I will try get a picture for you tommorow, the tool doesn't accurately torque it, but you can make a good judge with it
Hope this helps

you don't need the offset tool - you can use the castellated socket you already have.

I refit mine when building my race bike and it just went in exactly as the service manual. You have got the proper Honda service manual haven't you? Get it from the downloads section..

Hi CMSMJ1 :peace:

Just downloaded Honda service manual. The part i ment was the bolt lock nut. You need to hold the pivot bolt to torque up the lock nut. The service manual shows a special tool  .
Only got the castle socket nut for the pivot bolt. Any ideas or am i on the hunt for ones of those special tools ??

I used the same thing you are on about, the ebay socket.

I had absolutely no problems torquing everything up, you should be fine, no need to hold the pivot bolt IMO :peace:
