Problems taking wheel off

got a puncture in the rear wheel and for the love of god i cant seem to get it off, i managed to take it off about a month ago when i got new tyres fitted but it just wont budge now, i try leaving it off the paddock so the wheel doesnt spin but it wont move at all. tried using the hammer to shock it into moving, tried getting extra leverage on it but nothing, wd40 etc and it just wont move at all.

really dont want to ride the bike down there as it will mean sitting about for ages as they fix it and charging extra to do it.

Sounds like the hub and wheel have siezed togther. Unfortunately the only way to get it off is brute force and ignorance. In the past, I've used rubber mallets and bits oh wood to 'shock' it loose. Just be careful of paintwork though.

im assuming your meant to try and make the hub spin anti clockwise to get it off right? then its clockwise to tighten it? always forget which way its meant to go, given both directions a try and nothing. think im going to have to take the whole bike down to get it sorted.

Eh??? Spinning the hub won't get the wheel off. Actually, what bike is it you have? If it's an NC30/35 take off the little hub cap, remove the split pin/R-clip and get a 36mm socket and remove the nut then as you sloxly turn the wheel use a rubber mallet to shock the wheel off the 4 spleens. This is what it looks like,

its a NC35 iv' got, its the nut thats refusing to budge at all which is causing problems.

Ah, you just need more leverage then.

In (1st) gear with someone sitting on the bike with front and back brakes fully on and a BFO 1/2" breaker bar[1], never fails!

+2 on that (my mates here also )

The McGyver way of doing it is to use a piece of scaffolding bar as an extension tube for your torque wrench.

Try some of that Loctite Freeze and Release, it's great for that.

Tried and tested by yours truely to remove the larger nut on the other side. McGuyver ROCKS!!!

managed to get it off, got the torque wrench, then stuck another wrench on the end through the wee hole and put my foot on the wheel and just pushed as hard as possible and it then became loose, gave it a wee twist then put it on the paddock stand and is ready to go to the garage to get repaired tomorrow :)
