Battery for total loss race bike

Post by StrayAlien »

So .. the race bike has recently had the flywheel removed. No more charging. I hear the LiOn batteries are pretty well suited to the task for non-charging bikes.

So, some quick ebaying and here is what I see (side note, the battery RO sells for 85 quid would cost (AUD translated) almost 200 quid here in Australia - yikes - and batteries are those things that people do not ship internationally)

So ...

and

Any thoughts?

Could you not just use a 14.8 volt lipo rc car/plane battery pack? there loads a them available on ebay and i'm sure you could get them off the shelf in aus.
Something like : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Turnigy-4500m ... 137wt_1170
Just a thought.
Cheers

I'd personally be very wary buying from unknown sellers in China when it comes to battery tech. You'll get no warranty or aftersales service and any problems can easily ruin your weekend.

Here's a decent alternative to give some idea of what's available: http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-03-KTM-350-E ... fb&vxp=mtr

Durbhan also has some great info on his website about LiPo batteries (great products too, prices are reflective of the quality!). I hope you don't have your credit card out when looking around his site: http://shop.durbahn.de/shop/en/products ... rlight_%21

Are you trying to safe weight, if so then a battery change will help and there are places in oz that can supply LiOn batteries. If weight reduction is not the priority, the why not use the one you have.
