Changing HT leads on NC29

Post by cbr400rrn » Tue Apr 02, 2013 8:43 pm

IF anyone fancies upgrading their old HT leads its pretty easy as the coil end of the lead is a compression type of fitting as below

and the plug end is a screw in fitting, you can just see the screw in the bottom of the plug cap in the picture below (5 complete 360 degree turns and they are ready for use)

The hardest part is getting the plug leads off the bike
Hope this helps someone.
Karl.

I got the HT lead from Graeme, its a bit of a struggle but that's probably only because i didn't move the radiator to give me a little bit more room but it can be done with it in situ

PEOPLE> STOP!

you do not need to touch the radiator to do this & become a contortionist.
Tank off
air box off
coil packs accesable & remove them..
lift the rubber skirt & duct tape out the way.
now you can reach the plugs/ht leads piss easy...

TOP TIP: mark the HT leads to coil pack & plugs BEFORE you remove them....

Haynes manual tells you to swing Rad forward to access plugs..
far easier to go the other way i mentioned.. yes more to come off but ssoooo much easier & you can see more too
