Carb part, any idea what it is/where it goes?

Post by bikemonkey »

I've just got my carbs back from cleaning and they've done a fantastic job.

Thing is, and they did tell me about it, there's 3 rubber rings in the box of small parts that they took off the carbs from somewhere that are all perished, split and broken.
The guy mentioned the rubber pipes, but there's loads of those and I was tired so didn't ask which.

Anyone know where they came from/what they do?

EDIT:

Could it be part number 29 on this schematic? If so is it essential?

Just had a look at my spare carbs and they wrap around the t piece at the bottom of the sub air filter hoses. Cant figure out what thier purpose is though and i think there should be 4.

Hmm, looking at it they're only £2.50 for 4 new ones, and I've already got a full seal set waiting to build these carbs back up with.

But why aren't these included in a full seal set from Rick O? Does he not think they're needed?

EDIT: No they're £2.50 each, robbing bastards.

Hmmmm not sure but all of mine have the split in them so you can pull them off and on without removing the t piece. Id imagine they arent necessarily needed, alot of people run without the sub air filter or even the pipes and t piece without any adverse affects and i definatly wouldnt be paying 2.50 each if the old ones are useable.

Will have a look in my box of carb spares and see if i have an old one i can sed off to you.

They're not essential, I usually don't use them.

Who did you clean and at what cost if you don't mind?
