Post by markbrad100 »

i've got an rs 250 rolling chassis with ducati 916 front end, kw shock which needs an engine, the rd ypvs conversion has been done to death and fancy doing something different, like getting a buggered nc30 raping it for parts + blu tac and a splodge of no more nails job done!!!

most other forums say just buy the nc35, what do you guys think??

Personally I'd say not really worth it, the RS250 while possibly slightly better handling than the NC35 is probably only that because of the lighter weight and narrower engine. It would be very easy to get something that handles worse than either doner. OTOH the RS250 is a very pretty bike and it could look very nice and go very well.

The other worry is that two stroke engines are tiny in comparison to four stroke engines, it may not fit at all. If you post the dimensions you've got to work with someone will be able to measure an engine for you to see if there is a chance of it working.

Good luck if you go ahead and make sure you post some pics!

don't see the point of putting a nc30 in a 2 stroke chassis. Why not put a 450 single out of a YZ or RMZ or CRF in one, that would be interesting....

I second that idea! Put a 450 in the thing and you'll have a killer motard in a lightweight sportbike chassis.

the rs/rgv250 lump is... for a 2 stroke engine MASSIVE, in fact i recon the bottom end is a similar size as the 400 due to the cartridge gear box and off centered v twin configuration and weigh's in at 36.5 kg

i can get any welding, milling done at work when am on nights, and the rest of the fab can be done in the garage, as for experience built a Mito rd350 last year

the nc30 i was going to buy is in a pretty bad shape, bent forks, cracked and twisted head stock/frame
all plastics removed.... but engine and all electrics are complete 14000 K's on the clock 2 owners from new and it starts £250 Ono (is this OK?)

the other main reason is Honda 4 stroke reliability, I've been riding 2strokes for donkeys but lately they've cost me a fortune No good for the commute to work :D
