NC30 Rear exhaust fitment question?
Hi there, here is my vfr at the moment.

I am currently having trouble fitting the rear part of the exhaust to the manifold. My question is, does the plate at the back sit up flush against the manifold when pushed on by hand or only when it is tightened down with the three nuts. Because i already snapped a stud on the old manifold, so had to replace that and dont want to risk doing this again.
How far i can push it up by hand.

Thanks connor

remove the manifold (its a pain to do, remove as much of the rear of the bike as you can.)
and they are simply tack welded on from the rear, grind off the weld and fit new bolts and weld up again.

Hi there, thanks but i have described my problem not very well, i have already replaced this manifold, all three studs are there fine, its the plate i am actually having trouble with on the exhaust pipes. the plate does not sit flush with the manifold, and i just dont want to have to replace the manifold again if i break a stud tightening it down. If that makes sense. CheersCRM wrote:remove the manifold (its a pain to do, remove as much of the rear of the bike as you can.)

Re: NC30 Rear exhaust fitment question?
actually you did, my bad for not reading it correctly.
If using the original exhaust, they dont fit flush. same with my yamamoto
if using new gaskets, tighten to - well quite tight, run it up get it hot, then i nip them up again slightly.

Make sure youve removed the OLD gaskets, i had a problem once and the previous owner had put 2 lots of gaskets in, so when i removed what i would assumed was one turned out there was another so in short couldnt tighten up or get it flush.

It does possibly look like there may be a gasket in there, i will have a proper look now. yeh, it doesnt seem to be a gasket i am pretty sure but when i put a new gasket in they seem to stick out of the manifold slightly? poossibly the type of gasket i am using. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALLOY-EXHAUST ... 337894ef78

I have always gone for the copper ring type of exhausty gasket (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COPPER-EXHAUS ... 337894ef83) but am sure the ally ones will work the same, by which I mean they will crush slightly as you tighten up the joint - thus creating the seal required. So if they seem to sit a little proud beforehand, this is ok and should be taken up as they crush/seat properly.
