Stock Exhuast - front>rear headers joining clamp
So my NC30 has a exhuast leak where the 2 front headers pipes attach to the Rear headers/Main can Pipe (the join under where the sump is.
Now as you know there is a join (i.e pipes slip over each other), and on mine I can see to cylinderical gaskets, however it would seem there should be some sort of clamp (wide bodied long jubilie style), but Im not sure what the stock clamp is ?
I could use a jubilie clamp but they are nowhere near long enough to cover the 2" gap that needds sealing on the joins...
I was wondering maybe some could post a pic of their set up under the sump ?
Thanks

You can get stainless wide band clips from m&p or ebay that may do a temporary fix but chances are it's not the gaskets leaking more likely the mild steel joints are rotted. A permanent fix is to remove the system and get new stainless joints welded on. They all rot at that point and eventually crumble.

thanks alexwitham
and davethetrucker, its possible it has rotted, but when i look at the general condition of the bike as well as how good the header pipes are (just got oxide colour to it no rust as such). and how effective are those stainless clamps, they are £10 each on ebay ?

As mentioned, collars are the first thing to need replacing.
I have a couple of these clamps spare if you want me to send some over.

The header pipes and the rest of the system are stainless and tarnish but can be cleaned up but for whatever reason honda used mild steel at the point where the gaskets are and through time they rot and crumble away.ashj258 wrote:thanks alexwitham

The clamps Alex has kindly offered may stop the leak along with some exhuast sealant/silicon short term but getting new stainless joints welded on will sort it permanently.
Not entirely sure but there's maybe someone on here that provides a service replacing them have a look using the search function above.

Rcv4 is your man, he sorted my knackered standard system, very reasonable too.
Fire him a pm and he'll sort you out I'm sure.

I'm in the same boat. I've got a bit more work to do to the rest of the bike before I need to worry about the exhaust but it needs sorting. Can you post up your finds (who can do them and what price?).
