Polished Yoke?

Post by Marcos » Thu Feb 21, 2013 8:00 pm

Ok, so I'm gradually restoring my NC30 after sitting in my parents garage 14 years and was going to give the yoke a fresh lick of paint. I started sanding off the old paint then going finer with the paper and before I know it I have quite a shiny yoke!
The first question is do I go for the polished look or paint it? (I know it's personal preference but like to hear others opinion)
The second question is, if I go for the polished look will it require a lacquer to stop it corroding?

I would lacquer it otherwise it will oxidise at the first hint of moisture.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Satin black paint, a polished top yoke doesn't suit the NC in my opinion.

Two to one then so far! Twice a year isn't bad Ian. Does yours see much in the way of bad weather?

Painted in Satin black looks best IMO, polished bits are a bit too bling for me.
