Nc30 idle problem

Have been out for first ride in a while today. Bike running not too bad except for when slowing down and dropping the gears into first to stop, bike still running high on revs. Running at about 5000 revs when stationary and even blipping throttle they not dropping afterwards. Is this the carbs clogged up and need cleaning?

What bike is it?

NC30/35? If so try using the idle adjuster just below the choke lever to set the idle properly

I suppose you did push the choke fully off.

Also I have a spring attached to my choke lever on the carbs and throttle cable to pull the lever back as it doesn't spring back on it's own, could have the same problem

Didnt use the choke. Will try adjusting the idle tomorrow

Have tried adjusting the choke today, can't adjust it below approx 2500 revs. Any other thoughts?

Does it die below 2.5k or does it just not go any lower?

Check your throttle cable routing and adjustment

it just won't go any lower than 2.5. no more movement in idle adjuster.

Then I guess it's your throttle cables, or something jamming the throttle linkage on the carbs.

Could also be a huge air leak, or massively out of balance carbs.

Check your throttle cables and linkages, if all is well spray something flammable around underneath your carbs and if the revs rise then you have an air leak.

Try all of the above first, if that doesn't fix it then I would suspect a blocked pilot circuit. I've seen this on a couple of nc30's, they had the same symptoms as yours. The only way to cure it is ultrasonic cleaning of the carbs.
