fuel tank
hi guys i have just put the fuel tank back on my race bike (it's been off for a while) can you tell me should the front of the tank be tight or is there some movement ?
i have modded the rear sub frame & remade where the tank bolts on & after mounting the tank there is movement at the front which i think is not right

Re: fuel tank
There should be a tiny amount of play, which will be down to the rubbers being squashed when you press on the tank. If it can rock side to side about 1/4" then one or both side rubbers are missing. They usually locate between the frame rail and the underside of the tank, a little lower down the frame than where the tank shroud ends. The buggers have a habit of falling off when you remove the tank even though they initially have a sticky inside edge to glue them to the tank.
