Looking for my 1st NC30

Post by rx_se7en »

Hey,

I am looking to buy my first NC30, have been looking around for a few months.
I found this bike recently and will be going to check it out in person.
What do you guys think of this bike? I want to get some expert opinions :)

Welcome..

What's wrong with the other side of it?

My eyes might be wigging out but that looks like a fat 16 incher on the front..looks way out of proportion.

Also looks very low at the back.

We need more info - how much? have you got an advert we can see?

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me at first: smaller front wheel or they'd fitted a balloon tyre. I think it's just a trick of the photo though?

TBH, a couple of pics like that don't really tell much. It looks quite tidy and reasonably well kept, but then you're not going to try and sell a bike using pictures of it covered in road filth and flies.... For all you know from pictures, there could be tape holding the fairings together, the engine could be a box of nails, the suspension knackered and it could run like a pile of crap. I'm not suggesting anything untoward whatsoever about the bike or the seller however. I'm just saying that pics, especially of the bike fully clothed, are not really going to tell you much.

You'll find out what it's like when you go and see it. Make sure the seller hasn't been sneaky and warmed it up, its a trick than can sometimes hide nasty engine rattles. It looks like a reasonably tidy and original example to me, but I'm not an expert on NC30s. If you can test ride it, that's always a bonus. I bought my NC35 after seeing it on eBay. I'd have been an example of shiny bike syndrome had I had the winning bid and met the reserve, but I didn't. I was offered it after it didn't reach the reserve so I went to see it first even though it was a couple of hours away. In my case, under the plastic matched the external condition and in 10 years I've had precious few troubles with it. Just make sure you look carefully over the bike to spot any potential issues. If the seller seems a bit pushy, or full of crap, walk away. If they're a good, honest seller, they'll tell you about any minor faults, and they'll have a history for the bike. At face value, this one seems quite good on the outside, so the chances are you'll find it's a good bike. However, until you see it close up, you won't know for sure.

That was something that didn't register until you mentioned it.....

Also, is it me or do the wheels look the same size? Normally the 18 on the back makes the front wheel look titchy....

Thanks for the info guys.
I will double check the wheel size in person.
Good point out on the pillion pegs.

There's not much info listed in the ad...
The seller is claiming that everything is original and all servicing has been done up to date.
