length of rear shocks ? for '93 superfour. pin/pin.

Post by Ropehead » Wed Sep 12, 2012 8:17 pm

Does anynoe know what the standard length for the rear shocks on 1993 cb400 superfour are please?
I have seen some for sale that are 335 mm long though the ones on the bike at present are 325 mm long. Are the ones for sale too long or are the ones on the bike too short. I measured them with the bike on the centre stand and from centre to centre of the pins. thanks. 8-)

I have a 92 CB 400 superfour FII N, my standard shocks were 325 pin to pin, I have fitted showa shocks off a CB 750 of the same vintage & they fitted no prob's.
They are 355mm pin to pin & a fair bit firmer but this suit's me @ 16 stone  & I like the jacked up look & the slitely quicker steering, I just have to use a longer rear brake pipe mount on the swinger & a 1" thick piece of timber under the centre stand  , But that's it.
I am currently trying to upload some pic's from photobucket to no avail  But check out the Bike mag/ Brunttingthorpe pic's, mine's the blue Superfour
You should be fine with 335 shocks, Hope this helps Paul.

Cheers Paul,
Any info is always a help. Will have a look at your bike over the weekend and maybe stick up
some pics of mine as well for you to see. I only come in at just over 10 stone so the shocks you have would not work for me but with mot next month i need to look at something to replace the old slightly leaky ones i have.
Happy biking and heres to a dry and sunny autumn.
thanks Doug. 8-)
