DK Motorcycles?

Post by dar5150 »

Hi, I'm travelling over from Ireland this friday to pic up a RVF400 in DK Motorcycles. It looks mint with only 5000 miles on the clock! Anyone off here have any dealings with them before? Or heard any bad reports about them? Cheers for any advice.

They import mucho's rare stuff from all over the world. Decent company, mate brought a CBX1000 off them.

As been said though, very pricey on a lot of stuff.

their stuff is generally quality, but expensive -- haggle, and nitpick, and knock off a bit for having to visit stoke ;)

there was a thread doing the rounds about a dodgy gs500 they sold a couple of years ago ... but thats 1 case in a million.

yeah thanks zimm about the visit to stoke

this is my local bike shop and to be honest i wouldnt trust anythin they tell you about the bike full of shit over priced arrogant people who think they are better than u because they work at d and friggin k id check the bike over thoroughly before u even dare to ride it iirc there was a suspension bolt missin some time back resulting in a death dont hold me to that though

dk motorcycles

general consensus
wankers
overpriced
when buying 2nd hand spares they may charge 1 person 40 but another 50 for 1 off a bike exactly the same tend to just charge what they feel and are just divs

simple as said

damm, doesnt look too promising!!

I went to DK when i was working in the area just to have a look around the place... stuff seemed quite expensive in general.

I also once needed some spares for my rvf... after searching high an low dk were the only place i could find them.
They arrived in good time and did the job but again were pretty pricey fo what they were.

Other than that ive not had any other dealings with them..... dont think i will after reading this either!

+1 they gave me a pittance for my stolen recovered ZX4, then charged 250 quid for a tzr250 bottom end .. that needed EVERYTHING doing to it..

all that being said, if you check the bike over, and its what you are after, and at a good price .. buy it.

Sounds like I need to be damn carefull by the sounds of it. Think I'm going to go for it anyway. Just sold a fireblade to go back to one of these. Everyone thinks I'm mad. The blade is great but I have way more fun on a RVF400. This will be my 5th! Nothing like them. The blade is way too much for the road, these things are just perfect. And its all the more sweeter when you catch a bigger bike in the bends. There's absolutly no hope at all of finding a clean RVF over here. Don't really mind spending the extra cash just as long as it's the real deal. Will stick up some photo's when I get it back over on the ferry. Might put up some of the other RVF400 I'm converting to a race bike, hopefully for next years season! Cheers for all the advice lads.

Ordered some spares from them before for the rvf. They sent me out zxr second hand stuff, i called them back, they apologised, said i would get a full refund and could keep the zxr parts.
Unfortunetly, i had to call back roughly 8 times before they actually gave me back my money.

As for rvf's in ireland, yes, they're almost all completely ruined. Badly maintained much like every irish bike.
You could always have offered me cash for my black tyga rvf :P
Never know, i may have let it go.
