LAJ - R6 Shock on EN2 - you've done a few of these right?
Hi Chris,
How's it going.
You mentioned a while ago that your bikes are mainly EN2s and I think you said you'd dropped R6 shocks on a few of them. - So I figured this would be best aimed at you if you have a second.
I've just dropped an 07 R6 shock on my EN2 and it required two spacers on the top mount and a small bit of casting grinding out the way on the right hand side of the top mount to allow the piggy back res to clear. - That all seems fine.
The only thing is, when I bolted the bottom end up (using two alternative dog bones from that dude on the ebay that sells the Jack up kits - can't remember if they were longer or shorter but they are the same ones another guy used to do this mod) I had to grind the bottom corners off the fork mount on the bottom of the shock (basically just to them off slightly) as they were fowling on the rocker and stopping the holes on the fork mount from lining up with the rocker mounting. Once I took about 3mm off the corner of the the fork on the shock at either side, it dropped down a little more, lined up and fitted.
From what everyones told me (and I've seen from someone who did the mod) I was surprised I had to take a bit of the fork mount corner.
Any ideas? - have I done something completely wrong?

Sounds right to me - at the end of the day every bike is slightly different an it could just be yours or the original bike that was in the thread ...but it's in and it works !!!

Thanks Evil, that's what I kinda figured when I decided to take the grinder to the fork mounts. I think I'll just remove the bubble wrap from the shock tonight and fully check it for correct clearance from the swing-arm. If this is still ok, then as you say - if it works, it works. I took pictures of the whole fitment step by step, so if it clears ok, I'll post them on this thread once I get them off my crappy camera for future ref.

It might be a while (probably near the end of the project) by the time I get chance to write up all my mods (which have mainly been down to other peoples advice and pioneering) - but I'm hoping to document them anyway. For now, here's the latest link to the project gallery, the shock (albeit covered in bubble wrap - it is gold thanks to Triple SSS who did a great job on the spring and K-Tech who set the shock up and refitted the spring for me) images are virtually the most recent one's give or take 5-10 pictures. As always, I'll keep updating the gallery throughout, then section it into chapters at the end with descriptions and measurements etc.

The custom nose cone mount isn't finished, so hopefully when done and tightened up it will be straight. - And a billion times cheaper than modding an R1 front fairing bracket to fit!
Brake lines next, but I'm going to post a question on a new thread regarding those.

uniquefzrfreak I sent you an email with a set of instructions for installing the r6 shock into a fzr400. Let me know if you don't get it as I'm not 100% sure that the email i sent them to is yours.

Dru, that's awesome! - Way better than what I would have come up with and although I've done the mod, it's great to get confirmation on each of the steps in such detail to make sure I haven't done anything wrong. Is this document up anywhere for others to reference, as if not, we should get it on here under a guides section, or I can put it on my site space - referencing it as by you - so it can be linked to from this thread?

There's an earlier version of it up somewhere on the fzronline site. Feel free to host it wherever you like the manual's there for people to use. I'll also get that one I sent you posted up on the fzronline site.
